Discover the life of Saint Theodora.

Name / religious name: Anne-Thérèse Guérin (religious name: Théodore / Theodora). (The Holy See, 2006). 

Born / Died: Born 2 October 1798 in Étables, Brittany, France; died 14 May 1856 at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, USA (biographical and liturgical data reported by the Holy See and her congregation). (The Holy See, 2006; Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, n.d.). 

Religious life & mission: She entered the Sisters of Providence of Ruillé-sur-Loir (France) and, in 1840, led a small band of sisters to the Indiana frontier at the invitation of the bishop of Vincennes. There she founded the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and established schools, charitable works, and a motherhouse. Works and charism: Her principal apostolate was education (especially of girls), together with care of the poor, orphans, and the sick. She is remembered for deep trust in Divine Providence, perseverance amid hardship, and administrative leadership that enabled her community and schools to thrive on the American frontier. Beatification & canonization: Beatified by Pope John Paul II (25 October 1998) and canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on 15 October 2006; her feast day is observed 3 October in the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar. (The Holy See, 2006; Catholic News Agency, n.d.).

  One God By Edward Matulanya   Here’s a clear explanation of One God according to the Roman Catholic Church, as explained by the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) and the Holy Bible. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that there is one, living, and true God, the Creator of all things, who is eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and present everywhere. God is one in essence (nature) but exists as a Trinity of Persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This mystery of one divine substance in three Persons does not divide God, but reveals His inner life of perfect unity and love.
